刑警支队正在为这个问题争论不休，这时，李兵突然来了。和以前的蛮横无理不同，这回李兵竟然是满脸堆笑，见人鞠躬。原来，李兵是来提出撤案的，他以为这事很简单。这个反常的举动，引起了于超的重视。这完全就不是李兵的风格。晚上，于超再次找到了派出所所长刘志永，两个人继续上次的话题，刘志永说两年前陈子韬之所以能够逃避组织审查，原因在于两点：下面眼线多，上面后台硬。于超暗自心惊。可是，他们的这次见面，无意中让陈子韬看见了，他也感到惊讶。翌日，陈子韬约见了于超。后者谈起李兵提出撤案的要求，陈子韬敷衍几句，却借故不要因为他和李兵是亲戚关系，就过多占用警力资源，建议撤销“4·11”专案组，将这个案件移交到辖区分局。
