史提芬与麦辛是好朋友，他们合开小提琴工作室，专门出售及修理小提琴，在安静的工作环境中有悠然自得的乐趣。直至麦辛的女友、女演奏家卡蜜儿出现，异性的吸引力令两人之间的友情产生了微妙的转变。史提芬为卡蜜儿的才华和美貌吸引，但直至卡蜜儿主动示好，史提芬仍一直无情冷漠地回应。错失了爱情机缘后，三人重聚却已经往事如烟。片名暗指人心如冬天般干冷，不愿意为爱付出，面对爱情时黯然退却。
